DVA created the market Four Corners exposed

Dear Editor,

Four Corners exposed businesses making millions from veterans. But the uncomfortable question is how that market became so valuable in the first place.

DVA’s complex claims system created demand for people who know how to navigate it. Weak controls then created opportunities to profit from veterans at several points along the way.

Government must pursue fraud and dodgy providers – but, do not punish the veteran for a market the system helped create.

Simplify the claims process. Chase the fraud. Fix the machine.
