Australia’s base in Middle East hit
On the morning of 18 March 2026 (AEDT), an Iranian strike impacted an area at the Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, where the Australian Defence Force has a long‑standing presence.

No ADF personnel were injured in the incident, and all ADF personnel deployed to the Middle East are safe and accounted for.
The strike resulted in minor damage to an accommodation block and medical facility in the Australian section of the base.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that at 9:15 this morning at the Al Minhad base that Australia has in the United Arab Emirates, there was an Iranian projectile that hit near that base.
“I can confirm that no Australian personnel were injured and everyone is absolutely safe at this point in time,” the PM said.
“There was minor damage to an accommodation block and a medical facility due to a small fire that was created as a result of that projectile hitting on a road leading up to that base.”
A Defence spokesperson said the ADF’s focus was on ensuring the safety and security of its people, and would continue to revise force protection measures as the situation in the Middle East evolved.
