Dear Editor,
Veterans’ Minister Matt Keogh says the government knew about troubling practices in veterans’ services before Four Corners exposed them.
That is not the defence he may think it is.
If DVA already knew, the next questions are obvious – when did the Minister know, what was he told, and what happened next?
DVA had already acknowledged concerns about commercial advocacy businesses, while later controls were introduced around expensive medical reports.
The next Senate Estimates hearing should follow that trail.
Knowing about a problem is only half the story. What government did after knowing is the part that matters.
