Pulling down ivy and putting up sticks

I decided to pull the ivy off the back of my shed – and very quickly regretted starting.

But, persevere I did – and finished the worst task of the whole project so far.

With the ivy out of the way I got stuck in to building a lean-to, which will act both as a lumber-storage shed and a door shelter for my bunker.

As usual, I’m making this up on the fly, from a rough idea in my head.

Very good acoustics there Brian. Any thoughts about replacing or at the very least painting the shed sheets of iron to match the fence colour bond colour. I enjoy your videos and your pleasant frankness in admitting blunders no matter large or small as you meet your DIY challenges.

Thanks for watching Frank. I definitely did consider new tin (probably just over top of the old sheets) and paint. But, I needed to get the job advanced enough to be tidy before her indoors came home from a trip OS. I could still do either in the end – and maybe a mix of both – new tin above the lean-to roof and paint below.
There’s nothing like a bit of self deprecation to tickle the funny bone. Also, I try to keep it as ‘real’ as possible, because my number one reason for making videos in the first place is as a legacy for my grandkids to remember me by. I sure as eggs am not trying to teach anyone DIY 🙂

Uncharitable of me perhaps, but I did get a good Sunday laugh at your face plant. Just for info from a gentleman of the artillery to a grunt, you eat lentils but you build lintels. Mate, there’s always one in every crowd.

Thanks Terry. I could try and blame my Irish accent for the lentils/lintels thing, but I’d be lying. Good pickup on that.
I was actually RAEME (helicopters) for 7 years, though I did love ‘playing’ infantry from time to time. I then did 5 years full time plus 11 years reserve in PR.
Much respect to dropshorts, even when they pick on me 😉
