“Our relationship with the community has grown stronger and stronger in recent times and we’re thrilled to see that’s continuing this year.

“It’s fantastic to see so many veterans and families of current and former members taking part too.”

Led by 7th Brigade Commander Brigadier Michael Say, members were cheered by the crowd as they marched down the streets.

Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class One Sean Chainey said it was a proud moment for all those involved.

“It’s great to see so many people from the Brisbane community and beyond come along and pay their respects to current and former members – it’s a really special day for us,” he said.

“Each year, we come together on Anzac Day to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australians, and we’re honoured to play a part in maintaining this tradition.”

Thousands of other Defence-related associations and individuals also took part in the parade, including Legacy and World War II veterans.

There were countless medals visible in the crowd, with the families of former members making sure the memory of their loved ones lived on.

Poppies, poppies frigging poppies. All I see is bloody poppies, not being disrespectful but poppies have absolutely nothing to do with Anzac day. The ADF should be well aware of this, rosemary is the correct plant and only image to be using on Anzac day. Poppies are expressly reserved for rememberence day in November. Come on people, get your bloody act together and do the right thing and stop wearing poppies in Anzac day and start wearing rosemary.
And yes, I’m very well aware of the differences between both plants and their significance for both days of historical solonm occasions.
