Instructors deployed on Operation Kudu are coming to terms with the local weather, as they train the second rotation of recruits from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

One of the platoon commanders from the 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, said they were taking the recruits through basic soldiering skills in the snow.

“With all of us being from Darwin, this isn’t exactly the climate we’re accustomed to soldiering in – and the environmental shift has meant performing demonstrations and giving lessons has proven challenging,” he said.
While the Australian soldiers gave their lessons, the changing environment saw the role of teacher and student reversed, with the trainees providing cold-weather survival tips to their instructors.
“The recruits and AFU instructors, who are accustomed to snowy conditions, and many of whom have seen combat, have been teaching us the best way to survive and to conceal our movement in snow,” he said.
“We’ve been using the lessons learned from the previous rotation, as well as the recent real-life experience of the Ukrainian section commanders, to further refine and improve the training.”

Another pointless, immoral political stunt for the A.D.F. to cozy up to our U.S. overlords.
The fact the trainees are more adept and at home than the Diggers are, show’s how little we have to offer the
Ukrainians in preparing them for slaughter.
Training for Advanced First Aid and Surrender Techniques would be the moral thing to do, not false hope and Patrolling techniques.
As an aside.
How many of these trainees will still be alive before our Dig’s finish their post-deployment Leave?
Bugger all, if any, I suspect.

Michael, the Volkssturm [word deleted from Michael’s comment by CONTACT Editor] were established under the Nazi party. The Ukrainians are not Nazis.
You appear to be propogating a Putin falsehood that Ukrainians are somehow Nazis which he used to justify the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Whilst being free to comment on stories unless you seek to, don’t publicly demonstrate ignorance by propagating lies.
As to your comment on training, assuming you are qualified to comment and you have served in the Army, I take it that if Australia were invaded you would not want to be taught surrender techniques as you commented above, you believe we should teach these civilian Ukrainians you label Jugund again a Nazi related term.
Those men and women simply seeking to defend their freedom.
