Commander of the 1st Brigade, Brigadier Ben James, along with Regimental Sergeant Major of the 1st Brigade Warrant Officer Class One Matt Sullivan, last night farewelled hundreds of Australian Army soldiers, and other ADF personnel, heading to the Middle East Region.
Brigadier James wished them luck as they head off on their new roles overseas.
Many of the deploying personnel are soldiers are from the 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, who will train Iraqi Army soldiers as part of Task Group Taji 3.
Brigadier James also spoke of the families, partners, and friends left behind, who will be patiently awaiting the soldiers’ return in six months time.
A 1 Brigade spokesman said, “On behalf of the 1st Brigade, we wish all of you the best of luck as you embark on a new career adventure overseas, and we look forward to welcoming you home at the end of the year”.
“To those families left behind, we are here for you, and please get in touch with us should you need some support while your loved ones are away. Thank you for all that you do!”
