Through the centre, the company will work with Victorian universities and research organisations to foster collaboration within the innovation ecosystem.

It will also partner with startups and SMEs to boost the commercialisation success of new discoveries in the fields of autonomous systems, machine vision, robotics, industrial internet-of-things networks, and augmented and virtual reality.

This investment, announced today by the Victorian government, will boost capability for the Victorian university and research sectors and increase collaboration with the defence and non-defence industry, particularly in the process and culture of commercialising intellectual property.

“It will also further position Victoria as a destination for world-class R&D and deep technology commercialisation,” a Victorian government spokesperson said.

Elbit is the largest defence contractor in Israel and 28th largest in the world, employing approximately 16,000 staff worldwide.

The company is a global specialist in commercialising deep technology R&D in defence and non-defence products.
