Celebrating a hero’s life

Sprocket was an Australian Army Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) who deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 with handler, Sapper Andrew Main on Mentoring Task Force 5 for 1 CER. The pair were based out of Tarin Kowt and spent months patrolling and searching for IEDs, explosives, ammunition and weapon caches in the Afghan dust.
Sprocket was trained in 2011 by CPL Nathan Cooper, a former 1 CER EDD Section Commander. After commencing his Service at the School of Military Engineering, Sprocket spent his entire time as an EDD at 1 CER. Sprocket served in the Australian Army for six years before retirement in 2017.
Sprocket impacted the lives of many soldiers and was loved by those he served with, RIP old mate.
Say their name and they will never be forgotten – EDD 516 Sprocket.
