Shrine Chief Executive Officer Dean Lee said this year’s figures continue a strong performance throughout the Centenary of Anzac 2014–18.

“The Shrine’s vision, “That all Victorians remember, value and commemorate service and sacrifice,” drives the programming of exhibitions and events attracting strong public support and confirming the enduring relevance and appeal of the Shrine to Victorians and visitors,” Mr Lee said.

“Highlights from the past financial year include attendances on Remembrance Day and Anzac Day and a new milestone passed with more than 74,000 Victorian school children participating in curriculum-linked educational programs.

“An increased focus on the personal experiences of veterans of recent conflicts has also attracted new audiences to the Galleries of Remembrance and the Shrine’s dynamic ‘What’s On’ series of talks and events.

“The Shrine has also taken a fresh approach to attracting families, launching a ‘Shrine Kids’ activity program in February this year.

“Public interest and support for the Shrine continues to grow.

“This strong engagement confirms how deeply felt the Shrine’s purpose continues to be for Victorians and visitors to our state.”
