DVA is building a veterans’ peak body on foundations nobody can scrutinise

Dear Editor,

DVA engaged Nick Booth as an independent Special Adviser to develop the practical model for a new national veterans’ peak body. His project consulted more than 170 organisations and almost 500 people and finished in August.

Now DVA is recruiting the inaugural Board — but Booth’s full report and the draft constitution remain unpublished.

That matters.

If DVA commissioned the work that shaped this supposedly “sector-led” body, the sector should see what Booth actually recommended before the organisation is built around it.

Publish the report. Publish the constitution. Then let veterans decide whether the model deserves their support.
