Additional to Singaporean Pilatus PC-21 and Hawk-127 lead-in fighter aircraft that are currently based out of RAAF Base Pearce, F-15SG and F-16C/D aircraft from the Republic of Singapore Air Force will rotate for training in Western Australia.

The training activities will be supported by approximately 120 personnel in three sequences – F-16s from 24 June to 15 July; F-15s from 13 August to 9 September; and, F-16s from 9 September to 18 October.

The latter two rotations will include periods of night flying.

On 24 June, the first detachment of F-16s was welcomed to RAAF Base Pearce by senior ADF officer Wing Commander Greg Porche who said that hosting the Republic of Singapore Air Force promoted already strong aviation cooperation.

“We welcome a new element of the Republic of Singapore Air Force to RAAF Base Pearce, who have established an aviation training presence here over the past 30 years,” Wing Commander Porche said.

Commander Fighter Group of the Republic of Singapore Air Force Colonel Jonavan Ang said that the Republic of Singapore Air Force was grateful for Australia’s strong support and friendship, which had made this fighter detachment possible.

“This detachment highlights the close and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Australia,” Colonel Ang said.

“We are also very appreciative of the strong community support given to the Republic of Singapore Air Force over the years.”

Air Commodore Nick Osborne, Director General Preparedness – Air Force, said that the training detachment contributed to Australia’s and Singapore’s close and enduring defence partnership.

“Singapore has conducted military training in Australia for more than three decades,” Air Commodore Osborne said.

“Our two nations have a strong history of support for each other’s training, and access to each other’s training areas enhances our shared ability to strengthen regional security.

“The success of this training detachment will contribute to Singapore’s aviation capability in support of their vital force generation activities, our regional security, and our two nation’s ability to work together in the future.”
