The soldiers combined a weeklong tactical scenario with a chance to connect with the community in areas including Kingaroy, Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai.

Exercise Wondai Warrior, carried out in the Wondai State Forest, included soldiers from 25/49RQR with attachments from neighbouring units within the 11th Brigade.

Commanding Officer of the 25/49RQR, Lieutenant Colonel David Fraser, spent his formative years nearby in the foothills of the state forest in Gallangowan.

He applauded the efforts of his troops and the local community following the exercise and extended an invitation to learn more about employment opportunities in Defence.

“Soldiers within 25/49RQR are mostly reservists and enjoy the chance to put skills into action. This exercise forms part of their minimum of 20 days of service per year,” Lieutenant Colonel Fraser said.
