Home insurance exclusively for ADF and veteran communities

Natural disasters can affect anyone, including members of the defence community, veterans and their families.

On Saturday 31 October 2020, RAAF Sergeant Warren Willett was at home with his family when a freak hailstorm hit their Brisbane suburb.

Sergeant Willett said around 2:30 in the afternoon, a massive hailstorm came through Springfield Lakes and absolutely destroyed his roof along with a lot of the others in the area.

“I’d never seen anything like it. These things were the size of a cricket ball and they were coming in very, very hard,” Sergeant Willett said.

“It was carnage. I could see the roofs on the houses across the street getting smashed.”

Luckily, Sergeant Willett had his house insured with Defence Service Homes Insurance – DSH Insurance.

While the hailstorm itself and the task of rebuilding were stressful events, Sergeant Willett found making a claim with DSH Insurance was easy and their response quick and effective.

“After I found the phone number to call DSH Insurance, the lady on the other end took details, and said, “We’ll get back to you”, and literally within an hour the assessor they assigned had called and explained everything.

“It was that fast and unreal. I could not have asked for a better experience.”

“I’d recommend DSH Insurance for the fact you feel like you’re a little bit special because it’s only offered to ADF members or veterans.”

DSH Insurance is currently providing the same responsive claims service to other policyholders affected by the flooding in Queensland and New South Wales.
