Defence picks up another COVID-19 case overseas

Defence updated its COVID-19 case numbers this morning adding one more case to its map suggesting the latest was contracted overseas.

This brings to 27 the total case numbers contracted* ‘overseas’ – with PNG accounting for one that we know of, and the rest contracted in ‘the Middle East’, as far as we can deduce [Defence doesn’t tell us]

*Please note, CONTACT’s map differs from Defence’s map, to reflect the current location of affected members (as best we know), as opposed to where the disease was contracted.

Defence’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 63, with 55 officially declared ‘recovered’.

Other Defence-updated figures this morning show no change to the number of ADF personnel deployed in New South Wales, despite news reports of Army involvement in assisting NSW Police close 52 border crossings with Victoria.

In Victoria, Defence has deployed 182 ADF personnel involved in medical testing initiatives and seven involved in planning support.

Queensland is still the state employing the largest ADF deployment – 496.
