Last Amberley Aviation Heritage open day for 2019

Sunday will be the last chance for the public to visit the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre this year before it closes for the Christmas break.

Patrons will have the chance to view up close a massive C-17A Globemaster strategic airlifter, now a familiar sight in Ipswich skies, which can carry a 78 tonne of cargo almost anywhere in the world at airliner speed.

Also on display, a variety of iconic RAAF aircraft including a C-47 Dakota, Sabre and Mirage fighters, WWII Boston bomber, Canberra bomber, Caribou tactical airlifter, the F-111 strike reconnaissance jet and Iroquois helicopter.

TIME:              9am – 3pm

 

Access to the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is via the back gate, located on Behm’s Road off the Old Toowoomba Road up until 2pm.

Visitors who arrive at the main entrance on Southern Amberley Road will be directed to go back through Ipswich to access via the back gate.

Due to RAAF security requirements all visitors over the age of 16 must provide photographic identification, and have their identification details recorded as a condition of entry.
