TG Taji facilitates US weapons transfer to Iraq

Task Group Taji-7 has helped facilitate the transfer of a heavy weapons and ammunition consignment from the United States to the Iraqi Army.

The task group’s logistics company provided support to the transfer of a quantity of .50 calibre heavy machine guns, M249 and M240 light machine guns, 120mm mortars and associated ammunition.

This equipment was then used during a training package at Besmayah to train the Iraqi Army in live-firing the weapon systems, where Aussie mortar-men demonstrated a unique mission type – lobbing a Southern Cross into the Iraqi sky…
