The B-52 bombers trained with RAAF aircraft including F/A-18F plus Army elements in a simulated activity west of RAAF Base Amberley.

A RAAF statement said the activity was as part of the United States Strategic Bomber Training Program – while the a US spokesman said it was part of the USA’s “Continuous Bomber Presence” in the western Pacific.

This training increases the capability and preparedness of Australian and US forces to operate together seamlessly and to enhance security cooperation in the region.

The bombers did not land in Australia and returned to their base at Andersen AFB, Guam, on completion of the activity.

An ADF spokesman said USAF and ADF elements regularly conduct routine training together, with the integrated program of combined training initiatives and exercises mutually beneficial to both Australia and the United States.
