Aussie Guardian Angels still alert in Kabul

As a long cold winter rolls into spring, Australian Guardian Angels on Operation Highroad in Kabul, Afghanistan, are looking forward to more clement weather to patrol in.

Guardian Angels provide close security to Australian and coalition mentors at the Afghan National Army Office Academy as one of their duties while deployed with eight rotation of the Force Protection Element – FPE8.

The Australian Defence Forces commitment to Afghanistan is known as Operation Highroad and is filled by personnel serving with Task Group Afghanistan.

Australia continues to support the NATO-led train, advise and assist mission called Resolute Support which replaced the previous NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.

Around 300 ADF members from the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army, the Royal Australian Air Force and Defence civilians are deployed in Afghanistan as part of Operation Highroad.
