Parramatta RSL member receives Polish award
Dear Editor,
Please be advised that Lieutenant (ret’d) Les Gade, aged 94, a member of the Parramatta subbranch and formally of the Polish Army has recently been made a Commander of the Order of Merit by the Republic of Poland for his service during WWII.
Les is one of the last survivors of the Warsaw uprising who, following the uprising, became a POW.
He also had service with the 1st Commando Regiment of the Australian Army in the 1950s.
Commander of the Order of Merit by the Republic of Poland is a significant award and should be celebrated.
