Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre celebrates one year operating

RSL LifeCare’s Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre has marked its first year of serving the local community, with the centre opening in March last year and ready to support thousands of veterans and their families residing in the Riverina and surrounding region over the coming years.

Veteran Wellbeing Centre Manager Charlotte Webb said the first year of operation had flown past, with a range of services provided to more than 750 veterans and their families.

“The opening of the Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre was such a momentous occasion, but it’s the conversations and support that we’ve been able to provide veterans of all ages and their families in the past 12 months that has been the most rewarding,” Ms Webb said.

“From helping lodge claims with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to assisting with the transition from active service to civilian life, I’m so proud of the team I have around me and their willingness to treat everyone who has visited the centre with care and compassion.

“RSL LifeCare prides itself on delivering face-to-face support to veterans and their families and we know from experience and the sheer number of people through our doors in a relatively short period that centres like the one in the Riverina are vital to the community.”

RSL LifeCare CEO Janet Muir congratulated Charlotte and her team for the hard work and dedication that the Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre had provided over the past year and thanked RSL NSW for their unwavering support.

“Veteran wellbeing centres like the one in the Riverina don’t just happen overnight – there’s a lot of planning and persistence that goes into ensuring that, as a community, we’re there for those who have been there for us,” Ms Muir said.

“We know that the Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre and our recently opened centre in Nowra are working and providing tangible and positive outcomes for veterans and their families, and I hope that in the near future, we’ll be announcing additional centre openings across regions that RSL LifeCare proudly serves in.”
