My RSL Sub Branch was sold off years ago, but the legal agreement and financial settlement has only resulted in positive outcomes for veterans. They now have a healthy bank balance and investment account, and annual membership fees are automatically paid for members. The Sub Branch has a permanent home in the club and its community support continues to grow. It is now free to focus on supporting veterans. If the sale is done right, everyone benefits.

Perhaps in NSW as they have traded off the name. Not so in Victoria they are RSLs.
Do they look after veteran’s I would say most do if they know about them.
If people need help they need to reach out, each branch only knows if they are told or approached if the vet needs help.
Many younger Vets will not join as members, their call.

There is more to this incident than meets the eye. RSLs are sold off across Australia – as a ‘real estate’ search will find. TO DEVELOPERS – WHO, NATURALLY, EXPECT TO MAKE PROFITS.
SO RSLs know their property is worth massive money – and, of course, this is a MAJOR point of interest to MEMBERS.
HAS AN AUDIT BEEN CARRIED OUT BY RSL AUTHORITIES – and prior to the Federal elections – did the RSL COMPEL VETERANS TO MAKE ‘CLAIMS’ FOR ‘COMPENSATION’ – AND SUBSEQUENTLY ACCUMULATE LARGE NUMBERS OF VETERANS ‘APPLYING’ FOR ‘COMPENSATION’ – WHICH ‘ACCUMULATION’ WAS PASSED TO THE INCOMING LABOR GOVT – AS A ‘FINANCIAL TRAP’ WITH QUESTIONS THEN ASKED AS TO WHY SO MANY VETERANS ARE OWED SUCH ‘COMPENSATION’.

COINCIDENTIALLY, VETERANS RECEIVED CORRESPONDENCE FROM dve*/DVA stating that ‘Service Pensions’ would henceforth be referred to, as ‘COMPENSATION PAYMENT’ !!!!

WHETHER THIS WAS SENT TO VETERANS WHO ‘applied’ – or to ALL Veterans – who knows ??

But NO EXPLANATION was offered as to WHY dve*/DVA had chosen to change the wording. This is something that the Solicitor General needs to seriously INVESTIGATE !!!

AS CAN BE SEEN IN PARLIAMENT, THE OPPOSITION ARE ALREADY ‘TARGETING’ THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT, WITH THEIR USUAL ‘SLOGANS’ – ATTACKS ON THE GOVT FOR ‘FINANCIAL REMEDIES’ THAT ARE OVERDUE – CAUSED BY THE PREVIOUS GOVT !!!

    NOW THAT THE ‘AUKUS’ FIASCO HAS BEEN THROWN INTO THE MIX – WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE MORE ‘FINANCIAL’ ATTACKS ON THE GOVT AS ELECTIONS APPROACH – ALONG WITH THE R.C. fiasco dragging on as yet another ‘financial trap’ in regards to the ‘illegal’ ROBODEBT SCAM – BY THE PREVIOUS GOVT, AS LEGALLY PROVEN IN COURT;

SO WHY THE NEED, THERE – TO HAVE A LONG, DRAWN-OUT ‘INQUIRY’ WITH THE ‘CULPRITS’ INVOLVED – AND EXPECTING VICTIMS TO PAY YET AGAIN, TO LEGAL FEES, FOR TRYING TO BE REPAID THEIR STOLEN FUNDS !!!
WITH A BAND OF CONTRACTED LAWYERS (BY THE CULPRITS) INSTIGATED, TO – CONFUSINGLY – offer ‘FREE’ LEGAL ADVICE – TO ‘OVERSEE’ SUBMISSIONS !!?? – BUT AT THE SAME TIME, EXPECTING THE VICTIMS TO PAY LEGAL FEES- ‘DEPENDING ON THEIR FINANCIAL ASSETS’.

BOTH – LEGAL JARGONS – ARE ON THE WEBLINK CONNECTED TO THIS BAND OF LAWYERS; ‘hoping to profit’ if the current govt is required to pay out / compensate for the previous govt’s ILLEGAL ROBODEBT SCAM !! ??

IF THIS WAS SERIOUSLY INVESTIGATED – BY THE SOLICITOR-GENERAL – WILL THIS BE YET ANOTHER MANIPULATION OF LEGAL MATTERS – AS UNCOVERED WITH THE A.A.T. ‘KANGAROO COURT’ (ALREADY DISBANDED) – AND, IF THE TRAIL IS FOLLOWED, THE ALLEGED ‘INDEPENDENCE’ OF THE V.R.B. AND THE Ombudsman’s denials of ‘INQUIRIES’.

THERE ARE INSIDERS WHO ‘LEAK’ THESE DETAILS, AND ‘CHALLENGING’ THOSE WHO RECEIVE SUCH INFORMATION, WOULD BE ANOTHER ‘TIME WASTER’ – SIMPLY TO THROW MORE ‘FINANCIAL BRICKBATS’ AT THE CURRENT GOVT.

TOO MANY – IN HIGH PLACES – BELIEVED THEY WERE ABOVE THE LAW – AS WE’VE BLATANTLY SEEN WITH ‘THE MINISTER FOR EVERYTHING’ – LEAVING A TRAIL OF DESTRUCTION – PREVIOUSLY AND CURRENTLY, AND INTO THE FUTURE.

BUT ONE MORE FRAUD YET TO SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY – IS ‘VETERANGATE’/ VETERAN-DEBT – 2 YEARS PRIOR TO ROBODEBT – WHICH BOTH MAJOR PARTIES ARE ‘DUCKING & WEAVING’ AROUND – AS YET ANOTHER MAJOR ‘FINANCIAL TRAP’. (PERHAPS HOPING THAT THE PREVIOUS VETERANS AFFECTED, ARE ‘DYING OFF’).

THIS WILL BE A TEST OF HOW MUCH EFFORT AND FINANCES THE CURRENT GOVT WILL PUT INTO ‘EXPOSING’ the corruption within the previous govt.

There have been many Veterans reluctant to come forward due to ‘not wanting to affect their Service Pensions’ – but that should not prevent those of us affected TO BE DENIED JUSTICE.

    ONCE AGAIN,
The willingness of future generations to serve in our military
will be directly dependent upon how we have treated those who have served in the past.

The problem stems from poor decisions that were made by previous Sub Branch boards to sell the club in order to raise more money to aid veterans. I think it’s great that the RSL is trying to help veterans and their families, and I support the reasoning behind it. However, in the long run, it will actually result in less money going towards the veteran community and less of an impact because the RSL will focus more on things like slot machines (Pokies), beer, and parmi’s than it will on actually assisting veterans and their families.

In my opinion, the RSL Sub Branch need to be staffed with veterans from every era who are proficient in a wide variety of areas of expertise. The RSL requires retired individuals who have additional time to devote to the organisation in addition to professionals with expertise in the areas of law, accounting, risk management, and business development.

This is a goal that can be accomplished; yet, the veteran community has a tendency to make things worse for themselves because they are too obstinate. We, the RSL Sub Branch, need to get behind the new board in supporting actions that will result in being able to purchase the club back and have it run to not only make money but also help support veterans and their families. The old board that made the decision to sell needs to admit that it was the wrong decision made in good faith.
This can be achieved but unfortunately the veteran community some times shoot themselves in the foot and are too stubborn. The old board that made the decision to sell need to admit that it was the wrong decision made in good faith and that we the RSL Sub Branch need to get behind the new board in supporting actions that will result in being able to purchase the club back and have it ran to not only make money but help support veterans and their families.
