The event was marked at RAAF Base Wagga by a Transfer of Authority parade, which coincided with a review of the final recruit intake of the year.
Wing Commander Dolan then participated in the course’s graduation parade as the Reviewing Officer.
The day marked the end of Wing Commander Dolan’s sixth posting to 1RTU over a 33-year span, beginning as a leading aircraftman with Airfield Defence Guard in 1989 and progressing through sergeant, warrant officer, flight lieutenant and squadron leader positions before assuming command of 1RTU in December 2019.
Wing Commander Dolan reflected on the similarities and differences during his tenures.
“While technology and processes have come a long way, the people and their commitment to recruit training have been unwavering,” Wing Commander Dolan said.
Wing Commander Borg thanked Wing Commander Dolan for his dedication to the unit and pledged to build on his legacy to prepare 1RTU for the future.
“The geostrategic environment has shifted significantly and 1RTU must shift with it,” Wing Commander Borg said.
“We must be agile and I look forward to working with the staff to overcome any challenges that lie ahead.”
