Kapooka – the ‘Home of The Soldier’ – turns 70

Blamey Barracks, Kapooka marked its 70th Anniversary with a march-out parade on 12 November 2021.

Close to 60 of Australia’s newest soldiers formally completed their initial training at the barracks located near Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, and they add their names to the estimated 350,000 soldiers who have graduated from Kapooka serving in every conflict and disaster relief operation undertaken by Australian soldiers over the past 70 years.

Established in 1951, the 1st Recruit Training Battalion at Kapooka contributes to both national security and the formation of national character through the standards set by instructional staff.
