Captain Rossiter said he would be running in support of young people fighting cancer.

“In 2004, one of my best mates was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma a few weeks after his 21st birthday,” Captain Rossiter said.

“I spent a lot of time with him over the next 18 months, which included going with him for chemo and other treatments at his local regional hospital cancer clinic.”

Captain Rossiter said he and his mate were impressed by the nurses’ dedication throughout the hospital treatment.

“There were resilient, good-humoured and dedicated young people there and I have always thought about doing something to support the clinic in the future,” he said.

“So, I decided to train and run the 2021 Melbourne Marathon, which also happens to fall on my 40th birthday, in an attempt to raise $4000 towards the important ongoing work of the clinic in treating and supporting young people fighting cancer.”

Captain Rossiter has been attached to Headquarters 4 Brigade as a legal officer since 2017 and recently served as legal adviser to Operation Bushfire Assist and Operation COVID-19 Assist. He has also carried out international deployments in another Army role.
