Two F-35s to fly over ADFA Sunday 6 December

Up to two Royal Australian Air Force F-35A Lightning II aircraft will conduct a flypast of the 2020 Australian Defence Force Academy graduation parade in Canberra on Sunday.

TIME AND DATE: Approximately 9.40am and 10.25am, Sunday 6 December (subject to change for weather weather or other aviation considerations)
VENUE: Australian Defence Force Academy, Northcott Drive, Campbell
DETAILS: The aircraft will track from east to west at a speed of 650-850 kilometres per hour and at a height no lower than 150 metres.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, there will be also be no public access to the parade.

Members of the public can watch the graduation parade on the ADFA Facebook page from 9:25 am on Sunday 6 December 2020 – or witness the flypast from other vantage points outside of ADFA.

F-35A is a key component of Australia’s technologically advanced, lethal and potent air combat capability and is the newest in the RAAF’s range.

The flypast will also a provide training benefit for No. 3 Squadron based at RAAF Base Williamtown, near Newcastle, NSW, as the planning and execution of precision-timed formation flying is a core military-aviation skill.
