Defence playing fast and loose with COVID-19 figures

On its laughingly titled ‘Latest updates’ page, clearly marked Friday 1 May 2020, Defence increased its COVID-19 tally twice over the weekend.
Early on Friday 1 May, Defence posted a new “Latest updates – Operation COVID-19 Assist” page, saying they had accumulated 39 total confirmed cases, of which 32 had recovered.
Sometime between then and Saturday around 7pm, they updated Friday’s page to say “Confirmed Defence cases to date: 40, of which 34 have recovered”.
Despite checking regularly, CONTACT is unsure when this update happened because the photo on the page had not changed, as had been the norm.
We didn’t notice the change until after dinner on 2 May – yet the page still claims to have been last updated on 1 May.
Checking in again this evening, Sunday 3 May, we noted at first glance that the photo was still unchanged, but having learnt yesterday’s lesson well, we went one step further and checked the date – it still clearly says 1 May 2020.
Happy we could go back to Netflix, we ….
WAIT! WHAT!
The crucial line now says “Confirmed Defence cases to date: 41, of which 34 have recovered”.
Defence has again increased its tally by one, sometime between 7pm on Saturday 2 May and 9pm on Sunday 3 May – and still it clearly says it was last updated on Friday 1 May.
FFS DEFENCE!!!
We are trying hard to stay on your side during your bullshit information vacuum.
But, slipping shit under the radar like this is just not on.
.
For the record, the map (now relegated to the very bottom of the page when it used to have its very own page), indicates that the new case is ‘Overseas’..
