CAPTION: Australian Defence Force skydivers perform during the Australian and New Zealand National Skydiving Championships 2020. Photographer unknown.
The contingent of eight personnel from the three services joined more than 150 other competitors to compete in a series of jumps in formation and artistic skydiving.
The tri-service skydiving contingent took home three gold, three bronze and a silver medal in various disciplines throughout the competition.
Disciplines in the competition included formation skydiving, vertical formation skydiving, artistic free flying, wingsuit performance and skydiving’s newest discipline, speed skydiving, where competitors aim to reach the fastest possible freefall speed.
Speeds in excess of 460km/hr were achieved in the speed skydiving event.
More than 2200 individual jumps were conducted during the week-long competition.
We’ve seen no actual results from this competition, so if anyone from the ADF sky-diving fraternity can update us on the specifics of the ADF’s performances, we’d love to add them to this story – editor@militarycontact.com
