The 160th anniversary of the formation of the Queensland Defence Force will be commemorated with a ceremonial mounted parade of approximately 80 horses and riders from historical re-enactment troops this weekend.

The parade will involve the Queensland Police Mounted Unit, members of the 2/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) and 9th Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment.
Commencing at 10.45am on Sunday 8 March, the parade will leave Victoria Park, Gilchrist Avenue, Herston; arrive at Victoria Barracks in Petrie Terrace, Anzac Square and then return to Victoria Park.
In Victoria Park, there will be a ceremonial parade, scheduled to start at 12.15pm.
Commanding Officer 2/14th Light Horse Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Thomas McDermott and President of the Queensland Mounted Infantry Historical Troop Jed Millan will feature prominently on the day.
