My new favourite lens

I got a new lens – a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS III USM – and she’s a beast.

I got this to replace a first-gen version of the same lens, which I’ve dropped a couple of times and there’s no spare parts to fix it – it’s that old.

I’ve had the old one nearly 20 years, and probably shot about 90% of all the photos I’ve taken in that time on that lens, I loved it that much.

Being a newer model of the same lens I’ve always loved, I’m mind-blown by how good this new one is – especially in low light.

Watch this video for an introduction to my new favourite lens.

I love my Canon gear too. I have both the f/2.8 and a f/4 72-200 i.s. lenses. 2.8 is a fantastic lens but tbh i think the f/4 is the clearer of the 2. Enjoy your new toy.

Thanks Richard. That’s interesting re the f4 lens being clearer! But, you can’t beat the shallow depth of field and the lower-light capability.
