Skydiving from a C-17 raises $38k for Legacy

Skydivers in south-east Queensland took advantage of a now once-a-year opportunity for a mass parachute jump from a RAAF C-17A Globemaster on Remembrance weekend – all in a very good, very appropriate cause.

Approximately 270 skydivers jumped from Royal Australian Air Force No. 36 Squadron C-17A Globemasters Brisbane on Saturday 10 November 2018, raising fund for Legacy.

Just over $38,000 for was raised for the verterans’ charity.

Participants donated to Legacy Australia for the opportunity to participate in the rare and unusual event, which saw them depart RAAF Base Amberley and jump into Ramblers Drop Zone at Toogoolawah, north-west of Brisbane.

As well as raising money for Legacy, the activity was an opportunity for Royal Australian Air Force to showcase its air mobility capability with the C-17A.

Similar events in 2016 and 2017 raised approximately $11,000 and $30,000 respectively.
