Prince Charles inspects Fed Guard
The Australian Defence Force is providing ceremonial support to Australia’s largest sporting event in a decade, the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, from 4 to 15 April.

About 140 personnel from Australia’s Federation Guard travelled to the sunshine state to provide a Royal Guard to welcome His Royal Highness Prince Charles the Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.
The Royals arrived at Old Government House located in the grounds of Queensland University of Technology to the sound of M2A2 Howitzer guns firing a 21 Gun Salute.
An Australian Army Ceremonial Team made up of soldiers from the 7th Combat Brigade are also providing ceremonial support to the Commonwealth Games in the form of team welcoming ceremonies and medal presentations.
Other ADF support to the 2018 Commonwealth Games is as a major contributor to the whole-of-government contribution to the security of the games, involving around 1000 Army, Navy and Air Force personnel.
