Picking periwinkles at Lahinch

Nearing the end of our holidays, with the sun ‘splitting stones’, we’re off to the beach to pick periwinkles…

…then boil-em and ate-em 😉

This is something Rosie used to do as a kid, so it brings back very fond memories for her.

For me, it’s a more recent novelty.

But they are very nice – if you like shellfish – and you have the patience to pick the tiny buggers out of their shells!
