On the weekend of 17-18 September, South Australian Air Force Cadets from squadrons throughout 6 Wing took part in a ‘Mystery Tour’ – a four-part Military History tour organised and conducted by 608 Squadron.

On Saturday, the tour group visited the Army Museum of South Australia at Keswick Barracks and the South Australian Aviation Museum at Port Adelaide.

Then on Sunday, the group visited the National Military Vehicle Museum within the Defence precinct of Edinburgh Parks, and historic Fort Glanville at Port Adelaide.

This tour was one of many events scheduled in the 75th Anniversary Year of the Air Force Cadets.

Participants came from 604 SQN (Hampstead Barracks), 605 SQN (Lonsdale), 608 (‘Town of Gawler’) SQN, 609 SQN (Warradale Barracks), 612 SQN (Mount Gambier), 613 SQN (RAAF Edinburgh), 619 (‘City of Onkaparinga’) SQN and 622 SQN (Murray Bridge).

In addition to the educational aspects of the tour, appropriate to their rank and level of experience, cadets were given the opportunity to develop their personal skills in leadership, self-reliance, confidence, teamwork and communication..
