ADF on ops send family Christmas shoutouts

Some 2200 Australian Defence Force personnel were away from their families and friends this Christmas.

The ADF’s ongoing operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, the broader Middle East Region and South Sudan, as well as in our northern waters, meant many Aussie families were missing at least one member at traditional festive activities.

Before Christmas, ADF cameramen organised and compiled the above video ‘shoutouts’ from deployed service members to their loved ones back home.

The CONTACT family sends our heartfelt thanks and best wishes to the ADF personnel spending this festive season away from their families and friends and we also extend our warmest best wishes to those families who have sacrificed a little bit of their hearts and happiness in allowing their deployed family member to do what they do, especially at this time of year.

And, as we edit this compile for viewing, we also acknowledge that the men and women behind the cameras also had a very busy year away from home – and we thank them for all their great work, without which CONTACT could not survive.

Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and, above all, safe, New Year
