The 2nd Commando Regiment conducted a five-day counter-terrorism training exercise in Sydney recently to rehearse the Australian Defence Force’s response capability to terrorist threats.
Exercise Mars Olympics saw around 500 ADF members join forces with more than 200 NSW Police and other emergency services to resolve a number of scenarios at various locations including Holsworthy Barracks, Illawarra Regional Airport and civilian infrastructure in Sydney’s west between 30 November and 4 December 2015.
The exercise is an annual event that helps ensure Australia has among the best counter-terrorism response capabilities in the world.

Yeah hot stuff……. but back in the day, the early 80’s we were up there with the best in the World as well, and myself having served on those Gauntlet Teams and after {and we had the OAG/OAT} Nullah Team as well. We played it very hard, deaths and career ending injuries , no blanks ever used, too much explosives and too much gas , untested stun grenades and other systems. It was trial and error, methods of rappelling and fast-roping were ahead of anyone at the time, and so much more. But because of that we now have the very best CT Operators in the World
Australia rules , beware if you are a terrorist and the Order comes down to let loose the Teams
