Exercise Black Dagger rocks Townsville
Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force personnel and aircraft from Townsville are currently conducting Exercise Black Dagger 2015 in the area around RAAF Base Townsville in far north Queensland.
Exercise Black Dagger, running from 12-30 October, is the culminating activity for a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) course, designed to produce combat-ready military personnel capable of directing combat aircraft to support troops on the ground.
The exercise will further enhance the Australian Defence Force’s interoperability and military cooperation with our coalition partners.

Perhaps the Defence Department believes the findings from the Inspector-General’s
Inquiry into possible breaches of the laws of armed conflict run by Maj-General Paul Brereton
are close to being released.
This may have prompted Lt-General Campbell’s edict regards unsuitable symbols, death icons etc.
If there is (as I suspect) a great deal of bad news waiting to hit the ADF fan the Defence Department
public relations machine would be able to point out that actions had already been commenced to control the “inculcation of an arrogant hubris”.
